A Hidden Gem in a Tiny Country, Luxembourg (2015)

During the weekend, in the middle of our busy and stressful module, my classmate and I decided to go on a budget trip to an unfamiliar place. Luxembrough sounds great for a short trip! We booked the train tickets for two and the motel in the rural side of the city. As a broke a** students, budgeting wisely is a must!

Luxembourg was one of those places I didn’t expect to leave such a deep impression, but it did. The city is small, calm, elegant, and a little mysterious, like a hidden chapter in a European storybook. It’s tiny and standing on a bridge overlooking the deep green valleys and fortress walls, I understood why it’s called the “Gibraltar of the North.”

One of the best things about Luxembourg City is the view. As I walked along the elevated path, I looked down at the old fortifications and the river below, surrounded by trees and gardens. It felt like a painting—green, golden, and serene. The mix of ancient walls, medieval towers, and modern buildings created a unique skyline that somehow made perfect sense together.

There weren’t huge crowds, which made the experience even better. It was the kind of place where you could wander without a plan, get a little lost, and still find something beautiful around the corner.
